An dieser Stelle wollen wir mal auf den derzeitigen Nummer 1 und damit amtlichen Sommerhit des Jahres 2010 eingehen - Yolanda Be Cool mit We No Speak Americano. Die gute Nachricht: Endlich mal wieder ein Song an der Spitze der Charts, der durch die Clubs groß geworden ist. Die schlechte: Jetzt wird er so oft gespielt, dass man ihn wahrscheinlich schon bald nicht mehr hören kann. Hinter Yolanda Be Cool stecken die beiden australischen DJs mit den Künstlernamen Sylvester Martinez & Johnson Peterson. Auf die Idee ein Sample aus einem 60 Jahre alten Film zum Clubhit umzufunktionieren, muß man erstmal kommen. Wir haben die beiden gefragt, wer den Einfall dazu hatte:

Frühstyler: Der Name Yolanda Be Cool kommt uns irgendwie bekannt vor, was war das noch gleich?
Yolanda Be Cool: There’s a magical scene in Pulp Fiction in the diner at the end where they robbing the diner and Yolanda starts loosing the shit and Samuel L. Jackson starts saying: ‘ Be Cool”. We did take from there. We was just playing around with names.

Es gibt diese berühmte Szene aus Pulp Fiction in dem Restaurant das am Ende überfallen wird und Yolanda verliert die Nerven und Samuel L. Jackson sagt: bleib cool. Damit haben wir dann rumgespielt.

Yolanda Be Cool: Neulich spielten wir in Riga und der Veranstalter bekam ständig SMS, wann denn jetzt das Mädchen Jolanda auftritt und singt. Deshalb weiß ich nicht ob die Leute immer zwei DJs erwarten.
