Klar, es gibt unzählige Möglichkeiten Musik im Internet zu finden, aber man kann dabei auch wahnsinnig viel Zeit verlieren. Fruehstyler.de hat den kanadischen DJ & Produzenten Tiga gefragt, wie er die Sache angeht.

It’s good to look at other peoples charts. I know for example like in Germany like Groove Magazin always has a lot of charts or Beatport has charts an then it’s easy to find the stuff. I don’t really use the blogs very much but you know once you start surfing if you found someone who’s chart you like, then it starts like a domino effect. You find more and more stuff and you can research. I also use online Discogs, it’s like a discography database, which is great because you can – for example sometimes I’m going through my own libary and stuff and I’ll go on Discogs and then: Oh, I never had this, I never had that…and you make lists and you try to find this stuff. I do a little bit of mailorder too with some stores, there is an amazing store in Rotterdam called „Demonfuzz“ and there is a great store, actually also in Rotterdam called „Clone Records“ and yeah, you find little bits and pieces where you can. Sometimes you don’t find anything for a long time and then you find something amazing and it starts all over again. It’s a good feeling.

Es ist immer gut, sich die Charts von anderen Leuten anzuschauen. Ich weiß zum Beispiel, dass das Groove Magazin immer viele Charts hat oder Beatport hat interessante Charts, es ist einfach die Sachen zu finden.

Ich bin nicht soviel auf Blogs unterwegs, aber immer wenn Du interessante Charts findest, die Dir gefallen ist das wie ein Dominoeffekt. Du findest immer mehr Sachen und forschst immer weiter. Ich bin auch viel auf Discogs, das ist eine Diskografiedatenbank, die ist großartig. Manchmal gehe ich meine eigene Sammlung durch, danach auf Discogs und stelle fest: Oh, das habe ich ja noch gar nicht und dies auch noch nicht, dann machst Du Listen und versuchst die Musik zu finden. Hin und wieder bestelle ich Musik auch per Mailorder. Es gibt da einen super Laden in Rotterdam, der heißt „Demonfuzz“ und es gibt einen genialen Laden – der ist witzigerweise auch in Rotterdam – der heißt „Clone Records“ und, naja so findest Du halt überall mal wieder coole Sachen. Machmal findest Du auch Ewigkeiten nichts und dann wieder etwas so geiles, dass Du wieder von vorne anfängst. Das ist ein gutes Gefühl.
